Accessibility

Sail Commons aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We designed the pages with that in mind: readable text colours in both dark and light mode, a visible focus outline on links and buttons, a clear header, menu, main area and footer, buttons big enough to tap on a phone, and layouts that should still work on a narrow screen. The goal is pages you can use with a keyboard alone and a text description for every image that carries meaning. The site has no animation, no autoplay video or audio, and no pop-ups, and there is no third-party ad network.

What we have checked

So far the only check is colour contrast, which we worked out by hand for the site’s palette. We have not yet run a full automated accessibility audit, or tested with a screen reader, so some problems may remain.

If something does not work for you

This site is new and still growing. If a page, a form or a piece of content does not work with the technology you use, write to hello@sailcommons.com with the page and what happened. We treat an accessibility report the same way we treat a correction: we read it, we fix what we can, and we tell you what we did.

Standard

The standard is WCAG 2.2 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
