Short version: this site doesn't ask for anything from you, doesn't track you across other sites, and doesn't sell anything about you to anyone. Here's the longer, honest version.

What this site collects

Sail Commons is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which logs basic technical information as part of ordinary web hosting, things like your IP address, browser type, and which pages you requested. That's Cloudflare's infrastructure doing what web hosting does. This site doesn't run its own analytics, doesn't set tracking cookies, and doesn't share anything with an advertising network.

There's no sign-up, no account, and no comment system on this site today. If that changes, this page will say so first.

Your message goes to Christopher Ross directly. It's read by a person, used to respond to you, and not shared, sold, or added to a mailing list without you asking to be on one.

About the young sailors this site is written for

Sail Commons is written for young people learning to sail, among others, but the site itself doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, adult or minor. There's nothing to sign up for and nothing to submit. If a future feature changes that, for example if the planned "commons board" for crew and mentor matching launches, this policy will be updated first, and any feature involving minors will be built with that in mind from the start, not bolted on after.

Sponsored content

Some editions carry a card labelled "Sponsored." Today, every one of those promotes a business I own, so there's no third party involved and nothing to disclose about data sharing with one. There's no visitor data to hand over regardless: Sail Commons runs no tracking pixels or ad-tech scripts, sponsored or not.
