The Club 420 is a youth-oriented version of the International 420, introduced in 1993 (originally by Vanguard, now built by Zim Sailing) specifically for American high-school and collegiate programs. It shares the International 420's fiberglass hull and planing performance but drops the full trapeze and spinnaker pole in favour of a simpler rig, which makes it more forgiving to learn on while still racing at a real pace. It's a common next step after a single-handed dinghy, and the boat a lot of college sailing programs use, so time spent learning it well carries forward.
Often confused with the International 420 (i420), the full-trapeze, full-spinnaker version of the same hull.
