ePropulsion eLite and Temo 1000 electric outboards: the maker's figures and what reviewers found on the Temo

Why this matters: our read

The only test data here is for the heavier motor, so anyone weighing the lighter eLite has the maker's figures alone.

Two small electric outboards for dinghies and tenders (the small boats that ferry you to a moored boat): ePropulsion’s eLite and the Temo 1000 from Temo, a separate French maker. ePropulsion lists its eLite at 6.7 kg (about 15 lb) without its bracket, battery inside. Motor Boat & Yachting’s test, whose date was not in the text we read puts the Temo 1000, which has a lift-out battery, at 15.5 kg in total (about 34 lb).

In that test the Temo pushed a small inflatable at about 5 knots (nautical miles per hour), and the tester judged 30 minutes at full power enough for most trips. Charging from empty took about five hours there; Boat News, in a 2023 test, reported five and a half. The tester also noted the battery is not locked in and the clamp holding the motor to the transom, the flat stern board, released so easily the motor was nearly let go.

As of November 1 we could not confirm a US price for either motor, and ePropulsion’s page lists the eLite’s charger inconsistently: 110 to 220 V AC as standard in one place, 220 V AC with a 12 V option in another. No reviewer tested the eLite.
